If you have any kids romping around your house, this makes a much better coffee table than anything with sharp or pointed edges. Redesigning was a lot more fun than child proofing everything. My youngest got hurt on our old coffee table and end table! I am replacing many of my furnishings to have rounded edges for this reason. Seems to be working out.
